What I'm eating

  • Friday lunch: rye bread sandwich with inches of baby spinach, mushrooms, cheese, artichoke hearts
  • Thursday afternoon: eating an apple and some seed filled crackers
  • Thursday lunch: the final leftover soy bombs, with a big pile of rocket leaves & some tahini dressing.
  • Tues lunch with my parents. Pide bread sandwich with avocado, pesto, greens & fetta. Positively delicious. And a coffee.
  • Tuesday breakfast: kamut toast (from Sonoma) with tahini and mum's home-made plum jam

Quicklinks

Posted by kathryn in Dinners, Salads and Soups

It’s Friday – so instead of quizzes, it’s time for some links:

  • Salt & pepper: Startling photos from the BBC of a peppercorn and a grain of salt.
  • Using seaweed: Another great recipe from Food Stories – this time it’s mushroom, nori and wakame soup.
  • The easiest chickpea salad?: I love the simplicity of A Life Time of Cooking’s quick and easy chickpea salad with ginger, herbs and citrus.
  • Gingery mushroom salad: Delicious autumn food from Lucy at Nourish Me shiitakes, oyster mushrooms, leeks, gently cooked with coriander, ginger and hoisin sauce.
  • Poached eggs: I’m a huge fan of poached eggs. I use them on top of soups, on toast, over vegetables – anywhere I need a boost of protein. But they can be tricky, so I was intrigued to see this method of poaching – in clingwrap.
  • Fish & greens: Lovely recipe from Mark Bittman of steamed fish with porcinis and silverbeet. He even uses the silverbeet stems. Although I’ve never heard of tilefish?

I made the chickpea salad the other day for lunch and it was great, especially for something so quick and simple

That S&P picture is incredible. Always enjoy seeing what you have to share with us. I have been eyeing that gorgeous wakame soup as well. I’m sure you must have seen Lucy’s ‘nori condiment’ too. It also has me intrigued. Have a great weekend, Kathryn.

The salt and pepper pic is incredible. It’s amazing they can photograph something that close up. It’s worth clicking ‘next’ to see the others too. ~ James

Thanks for mentioning my soup! I have to agree with the other comments about that salt and pepper photograph – that is stunning.
